Taking over the space of an old bus terminal, the mosque that was first opened in 2015 quickly became the jewel of Klaten, Central Java. Located not too far from Prambanan Temple, one of the main tourist destinations in Central Java, the mosque has turned into a public attraction as much as a religious place.
The mosque is inspired by Middle Eastern design in its built, a quality that LAKA complements with an intricate copper dome. The shiny quality of brass stands harmoniously with the shades of brown that dominate the grand mosque.
